1972

In February, Charles and Pauline delivered a new release to the Capital in Austin, formally announcing the creation of CURE as a prison reform organization.

 

1973

Founded by Charles and Pauline Sullivan in San Antonio, TX; CURE was formed as a busing service for family and friends to visit their loved ones incarcerated.

In April 1973, HB 1056 was passed which did away with the "building tender" system; the law passed stated that no inmate could have administrative, disciplinary, or supervisory power over another inmate.
